This steampunk statement necklace is definitely an eye-catching piece. And not for the timid.
It begins with a split, antique silver-toned, pointed-edged Victorian style setting. Beneath it is affixed a contemporary decorative gear for stability. This gear is backed with a silver-toned circular blank topped with an antique silver-toned flower filigree for a nicely finished appearance. Attached to the front of the setting is an antique Elgin pocket watch movement circa 1909. This gorgeous movement features exquisite guilloche engraving over its surface along with nicely detailed engraving on the balance cock. The movement is copiously embellished with layers and layers of vintage and antique gears, many ruby chips, and other watch movement parts from several watches to enhance its overall mechanical appearance. The largest set of layered gears is accented on top with a vintage Rosaline AB cabochon which glows in tones of rose and pale gold with hints of blue that come and go as it moves in the light.
Below the watch movement dangles a generously sized beautiful jasper stone bead. It is striated in tones of rich red, paler reddish/clay, cream, palest gold and dark grey.
The pendant hangs from a high quality saddle brown leather cord. Attaching it to the bails on the cord are two small beaded connectors. The cord is strung with Tibetan silver beads in both plain and patterned styles.
The pendant measures 3 1/2" in length x 1 3/4" in width. The cord measures 20 1/2" in length.
A polishing cloth is recommended for cleaning the Tibetan silver beads if they become tarnished over time, as standard silver polish that must be rinsed off will damage the leather cord.
