◈ This handmade wire wrapped crystal necklace features a beautiful Australian Bloodstone Jasper, wrapped in oxidized antiqued copper, and weaved on to a small brass gear. Included with this steampunk and fractal inspired pendant is a fine 18" antique copper alloy snake chain. Longer snake chain lengths of 20" and 22" are available upon request.

With an aesthetic as dark and earthy as the legends surrounding it, Bloodstone (Heliotrope) garnered a reputation of sacred power in the Middle Ages. Bloodstone was linked to the crucifixion of Christ, the legend being that the blood from His wounds dripped on the dark green earth, turning it to stone. This ancient legend gave Bloodstone its name and inspired the belief that Bloodstone holds wound healing powers, physical or mental. The ancient Greeks and Romans often wore Bloodstone amulets during athletic competitions, believing that the stone would boost endurance and increase physical strength.
With its earthy green tone and red vein streaks, this grounding stone is believed to be a stone of protection, guidance when we are overwhelmed, and courage to overcome tough times in our lives.

In creating wearable art with all the wonderful metals and beautiful stones of our earth, I feel obligated to do so as environmentally conscious as possible:
◈ I use recycled, biodegradable and compostable packaging materials to ship my orders, no plastic or toxic adhesives. Ink used to decorate my packaging is non-toxic and water soluble.
◈ I use sustainable, American made wire, purchased in bulk to reduce waste (see my shop bio for more information on the sourcing of my wire).
◈ I recycle my wire scraps that can't be used for future projects, as well as my wire spools, recycle and reuse packaging used to ship supplies to me, etc.
◈ I support American-made tools from companies I respect and trust, to insure both longevity and quality, but more importantly the working conditions and compensation of their creators.
◈ I source almost all of my stones from small businesses, working directly with lapidaries and gem cutters, and seek to do so exclusively as my craft progresses.
