This may be one of the prettiest things that I have ever made.
This corselet was born when a bridal commission finished; I had a number of beautiful lace samples that were too pretty to waste. I hand appliqued them to a duck egg blue silk to make this beautiful corselet.
The corselet does not have the full scaffolding of a waspie corset. Instead, it was initially used over the top of the blousey fashions of the later Victorian period to show the fashionable figure underneath. You can either wear it as the Victorians did, over a concealed corset, or by itself for a gentle and comfortable squeeze.
The waist measurement on this piece is 28″, so dependent on “gap preference” could be used by a woman up to 4″ larger than that.
This would look lovely in so many contexts; bridal wear, subtle steampunk or mori girl chic.
