The hot air balloon is the oldest successful human-carrying flight technology and was invented in 1783. King Louis XVI had originally decreed that condemned criminals would be the first pilots, but de Rozier (the second to man a balloon flight), along with Marquis François d'Arlandes, petitioned successfully for the honor.
Now that it is acceptable for a woman to travel by any means she sees fit, I have created this hot air balloon pendant to accompany you on your journey to the ends of the Earth whilst you seek out many new adventures.
I have created this very small miniature hot air balloon using a hollow glass bead with vintage wicker basket and pumpkin style bead cap. The hot air balloon is exceptionally dainty at just 1.3 cm wide and 2.5 cm tall, is a deep cobalt blue with a green stripe going through it. The glass bead is hand blown, so has imperfections you would expect from hand-blown glass.
It hangs elegantly from a fine 18 inch ball and loop antiqued bronze chain.
