A stunning, statement mermaid fascinator of turquoise flowers in a Japanese inspired style. This flower fascinator is made up of three hair flowers and has an underwater feel to it. Could be worn as a bridal fascinator for a turquoise wedding!
This kanzashi is made from habotai silk, vintage kimono silk and polysilk. It also uses copper wire, salvaged/upcycled jewelry including gold coloured chains and silver coloured (possibly real silver, but not sure!) sea themed charms (two fish and a seahorse). You too can be a steampunk mermaid in your wedding fascinator!
The rough dimensions for this piece are about 4.5 inches x 4.5 inches at its widest and highest points. The large flower is 3inches in diameter and the smaller flowers are roughly 1.5 inches diameter. The chains and charms hang about 2 inches below the bottom of the flower. This is a real statement piece!

Please note that as this piece is now made to order, there will be some small differences in the chains and charms used. The original piece contained some one of a kind kimono fabric, and this will be replaced with similar kimono silk where possible, or a deep blue plain habotai silk.

There are gold coloured bead caps in the centre of each flower and the larger flower also has a antique bronze coloured bead cap nestled within the gold one!
Here is a breakdown of the fabrics in order of quantity used:
Burnt gold habotai silk
Deep turquoise/blue teal habotai silk
Aqua polysilk
Blue and silver vintage kimono silk
Blue teal polysilk (1 petal only)
Please bear in mind that the colours you see on your screen may not exactly match the appearance of the kanzashi ‘in the flesh’, though I have tried to show them as accurately as possible!

Kanzashi are Japanese hair ornaments. Hana kanzashi means ‘flower kanzashi’ and simply refers to the flower shape of the hair accessories. Tsumami kanzashi means kanzashi that are made by pinching silk to form petals and is the Japanese traditional craft which inspires my own kanzashi.
