This scarab necklace is handmade from scratch by yours truly.
The scarab is cast in epoxy resin from an originally sculpted template. The keyhole on the back and the details inside, are sculpted in polymer clay.
The beads are glass and metal wire. Both chain and wire are nickel-free.
It has been gilded with silver leaf and has received three coats of varnish for protection. In addition it has received a coat of clear epoxy resin varnish.
The beetle is 6.6 cm long from the nose to the tip of the back leg and the chain is 43 cm long.
The scarab has been re-enforced with a metal skeleton, prior to casting, for strength.
The varnish is waterproof and protects the metal leaf. However it is not made to withstand strong heat or sharp friction like scratches with metal.
If the item needs cleaning use only lukewarm water and soap and clean it gently.
