    An interestingly unusual tale that moves along to its conclusion in a very deliberate and well thought out way. I enjoyed the story’s idea and particularly the description of setting which is a strong point. Some of the twists to the plot could have been developed further – perhaps this will happen in the already scheduled follow up ‘Inspector Ambrose mysteries’?
    A good read for quirky mystery lovers. I will be looking out for more in the series

    Although I am neither a young adult or a child I found this an extremely intriguing and well written piece of creative writing. This author had me roaming the streets of the fictional Empire along with the characters seeing both clearly in my mind. I very rarely award five stars but for me this short story deserves them. I am now going straight to buy the next book to see what Inspector Ambrose is up to. Well done I H Laking.

    It was to say the least unusual. I read about 25% and it didn’t improve I gave up.
