This heavyweight cakestand was commissioned by a customer as a present for a family member who has an engineering background. I part made two completely different cakestands for him to choose from. He bought one and I finished this piece and now have it for sale in my shop.
The cakestand is made from forged military nuts and steel lifting chain with a large bearing as a base. The entire piece is TIG welded together from the underside. The final finish is bare metal coated with boiled linseed oil. This finish should be cared for with normal household polish.
The cakestand weighs 10kg / 22lbs and measures 330mm / 13ins at widest point and is 280mm / 11ins tall.
