This is a custom handmade Newtonian Telescope that is fully functional.
The pedestal stands roughly 36" tall, and the scope itself is around 40" long by 4.5" in diameter.
The optics and equatorial mount are salvaged from contemporary donor telescopes, so the quality of the image is excellent. All other parts are shop made from cherry lumber: the pedestal column, body endcap and trumpet mouth, as well as the equatorial mount knobs are all turned on a wood lathe. The pedestal legs are also machined out of cherry, and are doweled into the central column.
Contact me before purchasing, so we can discuss options for the donor telescope. Also, as these telescopes are handmade, there is typically some design variation from piece to piece.
