~1880's Bustle Dress~
2 Piece Ensemble which consists of
French Styled Bodice with Pannier Over Skirt & Under Skirt
**This Dress can be worn without an Under Bustle- I have it displayed on the dress form with only a Petticoat Underneath.
~All Seams are Finished & there are No Raw Edges~
The Pattern that I used to create this Gown was designed from Styles that were shown in many Fashion Magazines of the 1880's. This Gown is in 2 pieces, which are the Bodice, & the Under Skirt with the attached Pannier Over Skirt.
The Bodice is Interlined & it is Lined with Fabric & it is Boned at the center front darts. The Front of this Bodice has a simulated Vest portion which comes to a point & the sides curve upward over the hip. This Vest portion is trimmed it with Venice Lace. It closes at the center front with Decorative Buttons. There is a double Military Style Stand-Up Collar. The back & side back have short Tails that lay in loose box pleats to fit over any size Bustle. The Sleeves are in 2 pieces with Cuffs at the ends, & they are trimmed with the Venise Lace. I also have attached Lace Cuffs.
The Under Skirt is flat in the front with 3 Gores. The full width of the back is gathered & it is designed to accommodate a Bustle. The Bottom of the Skirt has 2 rows of Gathered Ruffles placed above the Hem. The Bottom Hem also has a Pleated Ribbon Trim. The Waistband is 1 1/8 inches wide & it closes at the center back with a Hook & Bar.
The Split Pannier Over Skirt is also trimmed with Venise Lace. The front Square Panels fall away to reveal the Underskirt. Gathers at the front & sides produce a Pannier effect. The back is drooped to fall below the knee.
