   Great lamp holder.

   Not shown in the picture is a metal toggle switch on the opposite side to where the mains wire enters.
   Its assuredly heavy but slips around on my polished wood cabinet surface making it not so simple to turn off at night unless I wedge it in a corner or use 2 hands.
   Moving doesnt cause scratches though.
   I’m going to fit some rubber feet to keep it in place.

   With a 4W LED lamp fitted the dimmer works perfectly throughout the dimming range.
   The glass doesnt get warm so its safe to use without a lampshade.

   Very good quality and price.

   A strange thing.
   When switched off with the dimmer switch or the toggle switch my mains meter says it is using 2Watts / 2VA.
   When switched on in its dimmest mode it is still using 2W / 2VA and on full brightness it is also still 2W / 2VA.

   My meter is not best at measuring low watts but it always displays 0W when the device is switched off.
   This lamp does not disconnect the mains when switched off, it only disconnects power to the lamp.
   The dimming electronics circuit is still using power.
   While its not a lot of power it means that component ageing will occur all the time and could reduce the life of the dimmer.
   You can of course remove the dimmer circuit if it dies and it will work fine.
   But the switches may not be suitable for direct connection to 240V.

   Unfortunately, these aren’t as lovely as they look. The wood is cheap and in my case was not finished off properly. It’s a real shame because they light up beautifully with the Edison lightbulbs and could be stunning. As it goes, mine both had damage on them, so I returned them but didn’t re-order due to the fact that they actually felt quite cheap and poorly made when I handled them. I’ve bought brass ones instead to a similar effect. I particularly liked the twisted retro electrical cord and the bulb-holders but the wood is really quite naff.

   Very nice light. Looks the part in my study, and I like the fact I could dim if I chose to with the right bulb. It is a very good size, seems well made, and although it would be nice to have a longer cable it is adequate.

   The only downside for me is the buzzing which is quite loud with my 40 lum warm white Edison. It doesn’t buzz with the 1000 lum LED bought on Amazon however, so it could just be the wattage etc of the Edison one (going to re read the description).

   Take photo’s of both effects.

   I would still buy again though.
