This beautiful ensemble was created as part of a collection to be showcased at The Asylum Steampunk Convivial 2012 fashion show, but it works equally well as a fantasy/ faerie gown with it’s striking and enchanting colour combinations of earthy, coppery brown and vibrant, exotic blues.

The butterfly gown consists of a sleeveless, fitted princess line dress in a beautiful irridescent teal blue taffeta. It features an elegant sweetheart neckline, adorned with gleaming metallic braid which echoes the tattered ethereal quality of butterfly wings and embroidered butterflies in blue, green, brown and red, sparkling with silver, chase over the shoulder. The skirt sweeps into an elegant train with more butterflies emerging from the folds. It fastens with an invisible zipper at the centre back.
Over the dress is a simple apron bustle and the outfit is finished off with a stunning underbust corset. The corset is made from a beautiful, coppery silk with a pattern which looks like veined butterfly wings and at the back two ‘wing tips’ drape down over the skirt with irridescent glass button ‘eyes’. The corset is lined with strong corsetry coutil and features spiral steel boning and steel busk. The silk was especially made to order and woven in England.
All of the garments can be worn seperately from each other giving you the flexibility to create other outfits and style a look unique to you.
The outfit is overall about a UK size 16.
Bust 110cm, Waist 93cm, Hips 107cm. The corset has a laced closed waist of 31″. Please message me for advice on sizing if you are unsure.
The dress and bustle are made from washable polyester taffeta and can be ironed on a cool setting. Do not iron the trims, and the mettalic braid may need to be reshaped by gently teasing it with your fingers. The corset is dry clean only due to the silk outer.
