If you're anything like me, you get beat down pretty quickly in tabletop games, and often have to rely on your comrades to give you healing. What a chore it is to constantly tease the edge of death, and even moreso to write and erase the metric volume of blood you have within you over and over. Personally, I like my character sheets pristine. And so to solve that issue in style, I created this device.
This counter keeps track of a two-digit number of your choosing. It has two dials that operate both the ones and tens digits, with the ones dial cycling the tens dial automatically when passing either 9 or 0. The dials make a magnetic click with each tenth of a turn. Instead of doing the math and rotating both dials, you may be able to get away with counting only on your ones dial.
This counter's heart-shaped body is mechanically different from the other RPG counters offered here. Its acrylic faceplate has much more negative space between the pipes and knobs, showing off the internal gear mechanisms that drive the counter. The ones dial rotates a graphically-depicted steam governor. Within its housing are extra gears, screwed into the assembly by an extra part, which operate as a steam gauge linked to the position of the tens dial. The higher the tens dial rotates, the higher the steam gauge reads, being driven to redline. When you run out of steam, the steam gauge likewise reads zero.
As I faced my death, steam was whirling around me. I saw it, felt it, and then I knew: science is power.
