This kanzashi flower fascinator, is absolutely one of a kind. A fascinator with falls, the falls are made from salvaged jewelry. The jewel-like turquoise and teal tones of this kanzashi headpiece make it perfect for a turquoise wedding fascinator! Very versatile, this flower headpiece has a brooch fitting and a hair clip so it can be worn as a luxury flower brooch or corsage, as well as a kanzashi hair clip.
I made this range of Steampunk-inspired kanzashi as I go to a lot of steampunk events in kimono and wanted something to wear that was both Steampunk and asian-inspired. Plus I like to wear kanzashi at all times! 😉
This kanzashi is made from habotai silk and polysilk. It also uses copper wire and salvaged/upcycled jewelry including gold coloured chains.
The rough dimensions for this piece are about 5.5 inches x 3 inches at its widest and highest points. The large flower is 3inches in diameter and the small flower is roughly 1.5 -2 inches diameter. The chains hang about 2 inches below the bottom of the flower. This is a real statement piece!
There are gold coloured bead caps in the centre of each flower and the larger flower also has a antique bronze coloured bead cap nestled within the gold one!

Kanzashi are Japanese hair ornaments. Hana kanzashi means ‘flower kanzashi’ and simply refers to the flower shape of the hair accessories. Tsumami kanzashi means kanzashi that are made by pinching silk to form petals and is the Japanese traditional craft which inspires my own kanzashi.
