One-of-a-kind Stained Glass Steampunk Dragon Kaleidoscope. This stained glass Kaleidoscope sculpture is truly one of a kind and perfect for your collection! It is made in a Steampunk, Gothic style and features a fully operational kaleidoscope dragon carrying away the world. It is interactive in that the leather wings move up and down by gently turning the key near the crow. The crow is the navigator of this fine stained glass piece.
The stained glass kaleidoscope is made of Bullseye textured irridized black stained glass in two different patterns. The stained glass scope body is soldered together and decorative solder embellishes the sides. The structure atop the scope include a number of re-purposed items, including pulleys, bullet casings, watch parts, chain, parts of an old wrench and of course the crow navigator.
The Dragon Kaleidoscope wings are hand made from an armature of wire with real kid leather sewn on to make the wings.
The kaleidoscope is attached to a globe (a copper toilet float) by multiple methods for a sturdy attachment. An armature is also attached to the bottom of the scope and it runs through the dragon legs and is soldered around both sides of the middle of the globe.
The dragon legs are made of kid leather and covered with copper wire and feathers and filled with cotton. The globe is a copper toilet float that has been painted and sealed multiple times. The globe is screwed to an old silver candle base.
The glass object chamber is made of clear glass on the inside and a patterned architectural glass on the outer side and soldered with the beaded decorative solder technique. It is filled with colored glass bits, glass beads, keys, chains and other miscellaneous objects.
The internal mirror assembly is a three sided high quality front surface mirror located inside of the glass body.
