  40. Meleager says:

OK this photo is awesome. I love the whoel steampunk concept int he first place, lots of fun. The overal image quaklity is spectacular. that’s why I’m saving up for an upgrade to the D700. the composition and framign are spot on. I like th ebackground, busy enough to be interesting, simple enough not to be distracting. the smoke from the pipe is a perfect touch. OK I’m trying hard to think of any suggestions at all. ALl I can come up with is that I wish his pipe were a little bit to the side so that we could see the smoke a little better.

  41. Onigun says:

Awesome. I love steam punk, I often see it at comic conventions and I always like to photograph them. I think this is a cool shot, the subject has a great stare, confident pose, and the smoke just adds more to the overall mood. The only thing I would say is that I think this would really benefit from a square crop, the background itself isn’t that interesting and it takes up too much room. Centering the subject in a square and letting him take over would work better, in my opinion. Awesome portrait!

  42. ecirp1 says:

Very nice photograph, very sharp and great colours. The DoF s right and the slightly derilict looking building behind add to the effect. I agree with above- I think the effect would be much more powerful if the crop was square and the character central to this? I think this would add to the power of the photograph. The smoke is caught well. His left hand could be raised and what he is carrying made clearer.
    Overall i like this photograph.

  43. Wlay1980 says:

There isn’t much I can say about this picture except awesome…….
I really like the bokeh, the color the shallow DoF, I am not sure if a square crop would look better. I rather like the picture as it sits, the use of the rule of thirds is nice. I do not know what a steampunk is, maybe it’s a term not common here in Oregon. Or, I just have never heard it before. Either way perfect picture and an absolutely perfect portrait.

  44. Oriano Nicolau. says:

Original and different portrait. I really like his clothes the textures on it, and the smoke of his smoking pipe. Great focus and expression. Maybe the photo need a bit more illumination. I like the background to, looks like a vitange scenary of 20th deacade. Really nice shot, great work.

  45. { Gilbert } says:

awesome stranger :)) love the way you composed it!

  46. Jim Boud says:

Now that is an interesting portrait! Glad he let you take his photo.

  47. ~green tea ice cream~ says:

i like the direct contact, the way his eyes are staring right at the camera (although he’s giving us a bit of an eerie look). he looks like an interesting character..and although i’m not a smoker i do like the smell of cigars and pipes!
