Steampunk art on shoelast: Shiny, mystic and alluring.

Creative art is beautiful. No, it is as sweet as it is alluring. As with other art on shoelast pieces this piece is inspired by the innateness of art. Yet, unlike our other antique shoemold pieces this particular shoe last carries with it a distinct taste: steampunk on wood. Its name? Steampunk on shoe last.

Description

The shoe last is basically composed of wood and metallic pieces. The shoe last looks as simple as any other shoe last, but it is not. The shoe last is prepared of wood that was curved out, planed then varnished. A map covers it almost across the whole region. A close view of the map should reveal far much more than the basic view of a map. It will be interesting to see the eventual owner of the shoe trying to decipher the map. No hidden treasures, just a beautiful message worth keeping to oneself.

On the left hand-backside of the shoe is an unpainted portion which allows an observer to view the original uncovered form of the wooden bit. It is varnished for posterity to protect it from weather elements and spills. It is from this section that an observer comes across a number of well-placed gear cogs.

A keen eye will notice that this a complete manual clock system all the way from a winding key to the face of a watch. The setup of the cogs is not a mistake either. The golden colored cogs are placed together to complement the brown hue of the varnished bare wood. The rustic copper clock face is prominently placed at the top of the painted instep girth to contrast the clock face from its map surroundings and the cogs close by. The hands of the watch are unusually larger than watch face providing it with a mystic touch.

The shoe last is supported by a rough wooden mound. This gives the whole object a rough natural touch. Reminds one of the importance of nature in our lives. The shoe last rests on frog metallic legs so you should not have fear of the figure falling or even showing signs of instability. For extra effect, the steampunk art piece has two alarm bell heads resembling ears.

you will get the wooden draft as a gift it is not attached to the shoelast but goes great together.
the wood draft been treated and varnished.
size around 25 cm long.

Where will the shoe last fit?

Asking where to place this shoe last? If you were to get a globe map atlas on a stand where would you place it? This shoe last would gladly take the place of such a globe stand. Mapped items stick together like brethren in arms.

Apart from your library or bookshelf, this shoe last would fit well on a work or study table. How about placing it on your coffee table as a steampunk decor? Or hang it in an area where the light will illuminate its shiny parts.

Place it on your bedside table as part of your antique decors. Consider it a silent shiny alarm.

Caring for the shoelast

This decorative shoe last can readily withstand the glare of the sun. However, to retain its luster for longer, shield it from direct exposure to the sun and rain.

It is advisable to clean the shoe piece using a clean moist piece of lint-free cloth. This is just to wipe off the dust. Its soft surface will kick other harder elements from sticking to it. This is a (hardy) “steampunk on shoe last” we are talking about.
