Steampunk Thor 4202 Electro-Gun Lamp
The hardest and most rewarding of my lamp projects, This one of a kind lamp started off life as a Vintage Thor 4202 Industrial Electric Drill. It was disassembled, removing the old burnt out heavy motor, cogs and chuck, stripped, cleaned and polished. A chrome metal E27 lampholder was attached to the front with an E14 lampholder on the inside, which lights up the "combustion chamber" which is easy removed to replace the bulb if required. The main bulb is a Philips LED Vintage Style Tubular Bulb with a retro spiral filament, rated A and energy efficient. I couldn't decide on the colour of bulb for the inside, so i decided to go for a colour changing bulb, operated by a remote that allow you to change the colours, brightness, timing and flashing of the lights. The perfect bulbs for this lamp. The base was recycled wood, sanded, and scorched to bring out the grain pattern and antique steel guttering brackets from the workshop were cleaned, stripped and painted to hold the gun in place. And yes, you CAN pick it up and hold it! Please check the video! I have loved making this lamp and it ticks all the boxes for a one of a kind statement piece. I haven't seen anyone else working on these, possibly because they are so rare and difficult to work with, but the end result will always be unique and very worth it.

With EVERY lamp i make, thought goes into the aesthetics, the lamp holder, bulb and fittings as all have to go together in a seamless and organic way, something I'm very proud of and hope makes my work stand out from others.
This lamp conversion has a 2.5m cable with an inline switch which, like ALL fittings used has been professionally made and conforms to all electrical standards. A cable grip is always added for safety (to prevent cable loosening if pulled accidentally) in this instance, its hidden inside the base.
