This is an amazing museum quality capelet from the turn of the century.. It is also very wearable and modern and could be paired with a white silk blouse and jeans for a night out…If I didn't have two small children that is exactly what I would do with it!
Tiny glass beads cover the entire surface of the capelet and larger ones dangle from the bottom laced edge…there don't seem to be any missing!
The lace is in wonderful shape. Three hooks and eyes fasten the front meaning you could wear it open as well as closed. There is one "eye" from the top hook and eye closer missing but could be easily replaced. The back has a small one cm hole/ flaw…hardly noticeable. These defects are expected from a piece so old!
It would best fit a small as it has some shape to the shoulders. Small gathers at the shoulders give it a very feminine look.
Shoulder: 13" across (then there are gathers and it fits like a small cape)
Length from the back of the neck color down: 14 1/2"
Length from the front color down to the bottom of the laced edge: 15 1/2"
