Do you love Claire's costumes in Outlander? I confess, I am not into time travel but I just LOVE most of the costumes. Especially that they are not completely over the top (like wearing a court gown every day). And they even bothered with correct underwear. <3
One costume I really like is this combination of jacket and skirt. It is just perfect for an 18th-century woman that is not of high birth. So here you have my take on this.
You get a JACKET AND SKIRT made after historical patterns. This means you cannot only use them for cosplay but go to historical events, too. And they will last for a long time as I make everything to dressmaking standards, not just costumes.
And they are made to your true measurements and in your choice of fabric and color.

JACKET
The Jacket is made after an existing piece from 1775-1785. Jackets like this were worn on informal occasions or by working people. You can portrait anything from a slave up to a noblewoman depending on your choice of fabric and color.
The Jacket is fitted to the waist. It has a peplum with two points in the back and 2 slits in front. The peplum will emphasize your waist-hip-ratio and make it more prominent (read: your waist looks smaller).
The sleeves reach to about elbow-length.
The jacket is closed in front with lacing over a triangular piece of clothing, a stomacher. This stomacher will be in solid color (unlike the brocade one from the pictures). You can choose a contrasting color for it. The stomacher will be stiffened with plastic boning.
The jacket is always lined in cotton. I can look for fabric close to your color choice or use contrasting colors. For reenactment, I would suggest unbleached cotton for the most period look.
SKIRT
The skirt is very long (just above floor) and rather wide. It is made after the historical fashion of the 18th century. You can use this kind of skirt for 18th century events and with many different styles of Jackets or Gowns.
The skirt should be worn over kidney shaped cushions or pocket hoops to get the right shape for the period. These underpinnings are not included!
The skirt has a high waistband and ties to close it.
FABRIC
I offer both jacket and skirt in a variety of fabrics. Please pick the fabric for your jacket from the first menu and the one for the skirt from the second.
If you want it just like on the picture: both are made from wool.
cotton (100%): Light and airy fabric, easy to care. Can be a bit transparent with light colors. You can choose from many colors. Can be machine washed.
linen (100%): A bit heavier than cotton. Linen is great to wear and looks very natural. Colors are a bit more limited. Can be machine washed.
taffeta (100% polyester): a stiff, formal fabric with a bit of shine. Taffeta often comes as a two-tone fabric, which means the color will change when you move. Color choice is a bit limited. Can be machine washed. Not suitable for a historical costume but great for a budget cosplay.
light wool (100% wool): lightweight wool with a soft grip. Available in selected colors. Handwash in cold water or dry clean.
dupioni silk (100% silk): A beautiful silk with some slight slubs in the weave. This fabric is stiffer than cotton or linen. Dupioni comes in a wide range of colors. Dry clean only.

COLOR
This offer is for solid colored jacket and skirt only. I can look for patterned fabric (like tartan) but the patterned fabric will likely be more expensive.
I can get cotton, linen and dupioni silk in most colors. Taffeta and wool are a bit limited but basic colors are always possible.
Please give me your color choice in the notes to seller or write me a message with your order. If you want a special color best ask before buying this.
TRIM
This listing does not have any trim included. If you want to have trim or embroidery, please contact me for a custom offer.
