Elizabethan Renaissance Costume with ribbon military accent by JeweledLegacy

During the Anglo-Spanish War women's clothing took on a martial flair as the whole country was swept up in the conflict- the Darnley Portrait of Queen Elizabeth is an excellent example of the style. This brocade and velvet costume is a copy of the military-inspired court dresses of the period.
The ribbon work on the bodice and sleeves terminate in button closures. There are 99 buttons on this costume, all hand-sewn. All edges are piped and the bodice is lined with cotton canvas and has steel boning. The bodice buttons up the front, so if you're not an 18-20, you will need to make adjustments. I left room in the seams for it to be let out, so don't worry if you need it bigger instead of smaller. The skirt is 8 yards of brocade cartridge-pleated into a waistband that closes with velcro. There is a hook and eye top for extra security. The sleeves are removable and completely unbutton.
While it was meant for the Elizabethan Era, the design could lend itself to Steampunk very nicely. If you used a pair of breeches or jodhpurs with the bodice instead of the skirts for example…
The costume is heavy and large- I used the shipping calculator from the post office to guesstimate (since I don't have a destination). If there's a 5 dollar or more difference in your favor, I'll refund it.
