   This is a very nice little book; it`s a bit more compact than most standard art volumes, but this square paperback of 128 pages is very well- illustrated with artwork (mainly digital paintings/graphics), fashion photos and film-stills.

   The text delivers a fairly decent potted history of the Steampunk genre dealing with key authors in both the literary and graphic novel fields, definitions of the movement and it`s origins, the fashion looks and it`s influences on film, music and art. Nothing is explored in great depth, but it`s enough to provide a starting point; you`ll read it in an hour or so. I expect people will buy it for the visuals as it really does provide an attractive gallery of images most of which are recent enough – at time of writing – not to have been widely reproduced elsewhere. It does tend to focus more on stylish characters rather than retro-tech cityscapes or airships.
   There’s a handy list of websites at the end of the book for further exploration.

   A worthwhile buy, available at a good price if you shop around.

   this book is excellent since looking thru it i have now got into the steampunk movement so much ,,,the i drawings are beautifully illustrated and also the book gives you a good insight as to where it began ,,,if you like victorian ,goth, clocks and a splash of fantasy this book is a must ,,,excellent

   Great beginners overview about Steampunk. People that already know a lot about Steampunk will probably not be to impressed. Lots of Pictures and information about Movies, books, etc that has inspired the subculture, but not too much for a newbie like me. ^.^ Don’t get this book if you want a lot of text and information.
