Ruffled Steampunk Shorts. 100% cotton with black lace. These are the lace trimmed version of my steampunk shorts ~ they transport you to a New Orleans boudoir of the Belle Epoque.
These work fine as shorts for regular wear, but somehow become more provocative when worn under a skirt…like Victorian unmentionables.
I design the front of the waistband smooth and flat to keep things trim. The back side has petite elastic to gather over the butt. Easy on and off. This lightweight Nepali cotton is fabulous and has an antique character. This cotton can be slightly sheer depending on circumstances. Small trim with wooden button accent adds charm.
These are just slightly low in the rise, intended to hang below your waist, thus keeping the smallest part of your waist uncluttered. This pattern has good curve and contour, so while the fit is meant to be roomy, they don't look baggy. My size in these is M but the XL look fine on me too – a testament to the grace of the pattern. You'll want to have wiggle room in your size so you're not asking light cotton to do the job of spandex.
~ COLORS ~
Red Stripe = has an antique tone like brick.
Brown Stripe = quite dark and cool toned, will look like black in low light.
SIZE MEASUREMENTS: please note, these run just a little smaller than my non-lace shorts.
~ Small = 26" slack waist, stretches open to 34". Hip is 42". Waistband to ruffle hem is 14" long. *hip measurement is at widest. Model is 36" in hip and small is fine on her.
~ Medium = 27" slack waist, stretches open to 38". Hip is 44". Waistband to ruffle hem is 15" long. *My hips are 37 1/2" and this is my favorite size.
~ Large = 29" slack waist, stretches open to 39". Hip is 46". Waistband to ruffle hem is 15" long.
~ Extra large = 33" slack waist, stretches open to 44". Hip is 50". Waistband to ruffle hem is 16" long. Thigh circumference is 25" max.
Hand wash cool and air dry, or try on the gentle cycle. Wash separately the first time.
