Antique French Victorian boned jacket with hand stitched sequins, jet beads, cabuchons and stones
Mid 1800s
The handmade black jacket is boned and lined in ecru with some pink silk
On the front , the collar and on the sleeves of the jacket there are black jet beads and stones in different shapes and sizes, which have a great sparkle
There are hand embroidered sequins on the front in a floral design
A very ornate and highly detailed jacket
This jacket is handstitched in a black silk satin, which feels soft and tactile

The sleeves are long
The chemise closes with loads of small metal hooks
The sleeve cuffs close with small hooks as well
The dressform on the pictures was too big for this jacket, that's why you see openings on the front of the jacket
When laid flat the measurements are: 19.2 inches high (48cm), 11.2 inches wide in the waist when flat and closed (28cm), 16.4 inches wide from armpit to armpit when closed and flat (41cm), the sleeves are 21.2 inches long (53cm)
In a vintage condition as shown on the pictures: some missing jet beads and stones (especially on the sleeve cuffs) , a small tear on the top of the back of the jacket, damage and wear to the lining, this does not detract from the beauty of this rare piece of vestment
Much prettier in reality than on the pictures, believe me!
The silk satin jacket can still be worn and it also looks great as a display on a dressform mannequin
