This tatter bustle from the ‘Rag Queen’ range is short and spiky with longer strips of curled fabric, lace, and sparkly yarn for a flattering shape that will shimmy and shake with your movement. The centre back has a feature decoration of red fabric roses and there are cute flower print buttons from an upcycled fair trade necklace.
Try layering over tribal pants for belly dance practice wear or over a full tiered costume skirt. Pair it with white, lace-trimmed bloomers for a Victorian or Steampunk feel, or top off a tu-tu and leggings for a pixie look. Let your imagination roam free!
Tatters are stitched to a white fabric base, flashes of which may appear as tatters move. For durability some edges are finished with a rolled hem, with some unfinished edges being part of the design, adding changing character to the garment. The bustle belt has white cotton tape ties.

I use many vintage, repurposed and rediscovered materials, mainly obtained through fair trade, charitable and eco sources. Rescuing and re-using fragments that others would discard creates individuality seldom achieved with mass-produced trimmings. Each design is crafted by my own hands in a smoke-and-pet-free studio overlooking the Yorkshire hills.
