Gorgeous looking and sounding keyboard,
Looking around, I found the Cherry keyboards being touted as the best in the market, but they were pricey, and I wasn’t ready to drop a lot of money on something I may not like.
The Kailh Blue Switches seemed like a good, cheaper alternative to the Cherry’s, so I took the plunge.
First off, this is an absolutely gorgeous keyboard. It has a vintage typewriter look and feel to it. It would look lovely on a desk, even if it wasn’t a functioning keyboard. I really do like it, and anyone that visits comments on how nice it it.
It feels very sturdy and there’s a very satisfying click to every key.
I use a mac, and getting connected was no problem. The windows key words as the mac key and I have no trouble accessing all functions.
So why not five stars?
Having used it for a couple of weeks, a few of the keys have a developed a very minor ‘squeak’ to them. Nothing too loud or distracting, and the usual click is still there, but enough for me to notice if paying attention. It makes me fear that a few months of good hard usage may expose some minor niggles like this… but I’ll keep an open mind.
I wouldn’t recommend this if you work in a quiet environment (a library) or when on phone calls. But if you’re after that lovely sound on a great looking piece of kit, then this is the one for you.
Fantastic,
Sadly disappointed,
