It’s really tall! Like really really tall! It’s actually ridiculous and you will look like the Cat in the Hat 🙂
One of the best things about this hat is that, even though it’s epically high – it’s actually quite light to wear and extremely comfy in fact due to the merino wools 🙂 This hat stands 11 inches tall. It’s really quite incredible.
Hand felted with luxurious wools in richly hand dyed shades. Organic merino on the base and on top, curls nuno felted in from teeswater fleece we procure from the eco farm down the road. Each hat is a beautifully crafted, solidly felted piece that will be your companion for life, if you let it. Love it and it will love you back!
You can make a custom order for The Bubbles or keep your eyes peeled for when we next have one available… If you would like to order, it’s very easy. You can choose either to pay a deposit or pay the full amount. If you would like to pay a deposit, we ask for 30% upfront (non refundable), otherwise just purchase the listing here. We then book in the making of your hat, which will take 4-6 weeks to create before shipping. We will contact you with photographs of your finished piece. Once you are satisfied you then pay any remaining balance (layaway/instalment plans are available) and shipping costs.
We will need a head measurement taken like this –
Ask a friend to measure around your head where you like your hats to sit. Do *not* do this yourself the readings are inevitably inaccurate! Add a note to your order with the measurement in both inches and cm, as this really helps us to get your size just right. We ‘make to measure’ and do not steam to hatblocks and so are not confined to any particular shape or size. So all of our hats are truly made to measure. Because of this they will always come out with individual characteristics and quirks, which is one of the many wonders and joys of hand felted wool hats – each one is magically unique!

Our hats are shaped and blocked by hand – Not shaped to a hatblock, no steam, no chemicals, NO STITCHING! Sorry to shout but we think it’s important! You will never find a seam on our hats. We use ONLY hot water, olive oil soap and natural wool to make it – nothing else but the power of our hands. It is ethical, natural, unique and one of a kind… All of our hats are on a continuous design curve as it takes approximately 10 – 20 hours of creation time, from wool to hat. This means no two hats are ever the same.
The button is one of our own, handmade using hand tools from a dried oak tree branch, finished with tung oil, which penetrates the wood deeply, leaving a beautiful deep shine and strong protection, then waxed with carnauba wax.
The felt is fine yet strong, comfortable to wear and does not itch. It will mould to the wearer over time, becoming better and better with age. Our hand rolled felt is strongly water resistant and can be worn in all weathers, works as a sunhat in the sun, a rainhat in the rain, and the shape will not be damaged by rain either. Felt is also strongly dirt resistant and we recommend never washing it. It may need a wipe with a damp cloth from time to time. This is all due to the natural properties of wool which are only enhanced by the felt making process.
All our wool is ethically sourced. All wool products are finished in TanTech felting finish wash to add essential oils and lanolin to prevent pilling, give a smooth soft finish and to deter moths.
