DESCRIPTION:

Here is a pretty gorgeous pair of antique spectacles with bright silver frames and light aqua tinted lenses. The frames may be solid silver. There is no makers mark, which is not uncommon for American products. In the U.K., all silver and goldsmiths were required to put a makers mark on all of their work, which identified the maker and the silver or gold content. The U.S. did not conform to these strict standards which has left many pieces unidentified. I can tell you that no portion of the metal frames or earpieces attract a magnet (a sign that these might very well be pure silver), but you would have to perform an acid test to get an accurate result.

All of that aside, this pair of antique spectacles is unbelievably striking and unique. The light aqua tint of the lenses really makes an impression. The images do not do them justice. What's more, these goggles have seen minimal use. They immediately invoke the feeling of antique spectacles from the 1800's, with fine, round wire rims and flexible wire earpieces that wrap around your ear. They are also very lightweight making them perfect for a full day of Steampunk fun in the sun. Grab these before they are gone.

CONDITION:

LENSES:
The rich blue tinted lenses are in remarkable shape for a 100+ year old pair of spectacles. Aside from a few barely visible surface scuffs, the lenses are absolutely flawless. Furthermore, these are NOT prescription lenses. These were simply to lend a bit of shade and a boat load of sophistication back when most people would not spend their hard earned money on such a non-essential. I found that the blue lenses gave the visible world a look of crisp cleanliness. Blues were very rich, greens popped, reds seemed deeper and whites looked laundry fresh. Forget looking at the world through rose-colored glasses – I prefer blue.

FRAMES:
As mentioned above, these frames may be pure silver. They do not attract a magnet even a little. The silver color is bright and gleaming – you can be sure that these spectacles will turn more than a few heads. The frames on these glasses are in very good condition. There is no pitting, scuffs, discoloration or corrosion. They really don't even show minimal scuffs that you might expect from a pair of spectacles that are more than 100 years old. I doubt I'll be doing so well at their age… The frames are lightweight and very comfortable. You will quickly become very attached to this gorgeous pair of glasses.

EARPIECES – ARMS:
The earpieces are nice and straight and are also lightweight and comfortable. These earpieces can easily be adjusted to your exact requirements, and the wrap around style makes certain that these spectacles will stay firmly in play regardless of your activities. Be careful where you set these down because you are going to inspire a good deal of jealousy…

MEASUREMENTS:
The goggles measure approximately 5 and 1/8ths inches (130mm) wide from hinge to hinge and the lenses measure approximately 1 and 1/2 inches (38mm) high, including the frames – please consider the dimensions when selecting any pair of goggles, and if you have a question please don't hesitate to ask.

Overall, this is a fantastic pair of glasses, with an entirely unique look that will have your friends looking on with envy. Almost perfectly preserved for their 100+ years on this planet. If you are looking for an accessory to give your look an air of unrivaled refinement, then these spectacles will put the ideal finishing touch on your Steampunk wardrobe. You will absolutely NOT be disappointed.
